Being close to the bay brings a few Florida realities. Bayshore Boulevard can flood in storm surge, as it did during Hurricane Idalia in 2023, and some newer homes are built up higher, which means more steps at the front door. Getting around is easy but busy. Gandy Boulevard and MacDill Avenue are the main roads, and school traffic near Roosevelt and Ballast Point elementary schools can slow things down in the morning. Plant, Robinson, Coleman and Madison schools serve different parts of the neighborhood, so summer is a popular time to move here.
