Interbay is the name for the Interbay Peninsula, the long piece of South Tampa between Old Tampa Bay and Hillsborough Bay that runs south to MacDill Air Force Base, all inside the City of Tampa. The city also has a small neighborhood officially named Interbay near the base, bordered by Interbay Boulevard to the north and MacDill to the south. Most locals just call this whole area South of Gandy. It has grown fast in recent years, with new townhomes and apartments going up next to older homes.

MacDill shapes life on the peninsula. Service members and their families move in and out all year, so we do a lot of military moves here, from local moves off base to long-distance moves after new orders. We can work around report dates and move-out inspections, and we keep a clear list of what goes on the truck so nothing gets left behind. Housing on the peninsula is a real mix. Older one-story homes sit next to new townhomes, and there are apartment communities close to the base gates. Out west, Port Tampa has older homes near the water and Picnic Island Park. A lot of the peninsula is low and close to the bay, so many new homes are built up high with more stairs. Summer means heat and afternoon storms, so we plan early starts and keep furniture wrapped. We also walk the home with you first so we know which pieces need extra care.

Getting around takes planning. Gandy Boulevard, Dale Mabry Highway, MacDill Avenue and Interbay Boulevard all get busy when base traffic peaks, and the Selmon Expressway and Gandy Bridge feed in more cars. Our Tampa crew times your move around it. Afterward, grab lunch at Big Ray’s Fish Camp or a Cuban sandwich at Interbay Meat Market, two local spots on Interbay Boulevard. On weekends, Picnic Island Park and Ballast Point Park are close by for a break by the water.
